Hi, Padraic!

Now one of my long time subscribers is having the same trouble I did. Her name is Christine Hohlbaum. She's listed as the PR Diva Queen on my site.

She's not able to subscribe to the topics and she's no longer receiving the board notifications either.

I'm leaving tomorrow for vacation so we might not get it resolved before I leave? And I thought you might actually have to do something to her account, like you fixed mine before.

Thank you so much,

Allyn

She was subscribed to the whole board. I unsubscribed her.
Ask her to subscribe again to the whole board and see if she's getting them.

I know there is a problem with aol users at the moment that I'm trying to resolve.

Thanks will do! That's what happened to me, if you recall. I couldn't unsubscribe ... even when I clicked on the unsubscribe deal. And she had the same problem. I guess Christine signed up with an aol account. I'm not an aol user, but I know aol has been problematic with all the hyped up protection they are giving. Many of my colleagues with e-zines are having fits with the bouncing e-mails.

I hope it solves it for you forum user.

In one way I don't blame AOL. Theres a lot of spam out there.

Oh, yes. They are doing a good job. I had something I was sending to a friend and AOL user. I called the AOL support folks. He said they received billions of spam messages (can't remember the time period), but it was ridiculous.

So, no ... it's not AOL that is the problem. It's the spammers!

I'm just not an AOL user and know they are making changes that have disrupted lots of webmaster, e-zine editors with opt-in lists.

Oh well ...

And thanks for all you do!

Sorry to bother you again.

This user just reported the problem was never solved. PR Diva Queen is her username.

Here's a reminder of the problem: "She's not able to subscribe to the topics and she's no longer receiving the board notifications either."

Thank you so much!

Ask her to subscribe to the whole forum again. I just unsubscribed her.

If that doesn't work I will have to go through the mail logs to see if the mail is in fact being sent to her. I will need her email address for that.

Actually I got her email address from the database. Tell her AOL is her problem and to complain to them.

I'm going to send her a GMail invite. Far better.

Thanks will do. She actually has other e-mail accounts via her website. Can you change out the e-mail or would you have to sign up brand new?

My posters are very determinded to keep their original posting numbers. :).

You should change the email address for her by going to the members page and clicking the pencil icon across from her username.
You should be able to enter it on the next page. Click submit to save it.

Hi, Padraic!

We're still having trouble with this user. She's changed her e-mail address and it's still not allowing her to subscribe to topics.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

The user is: PR Diva Queen

I'm going to check our mail server logs to see if the email was sent.

Still searching through the logs. I went through the forum database and compared her account to mine and yours and nothing special showed up.

Finished searching through the logs. The only email sent to her was a test one I sent to see if it bounced.
Need to do more investigation.

Its because you had topic moderation set to on in the admin area (even though you were not using it) and the user is a moderator. Moderators do not receive emails of all posts in the forums because its easier to moderate posts by looking for the +/- icon on the active topics page (and other places) rather than to have to sift through tons of email.

I turned topic moderation off in the admin area which should allow her to receive email. If it doesn't work, let me know.

Thanks and oh my, I know enough to be very dangerous, don't I?

I do so appreciate your assistance and timely responses to us, Padriac.

Thank you for your time.

You don't need to know anything to be dangerous...

Has she gotten any emails yet?
