I was not able to access this Forum or MOC's forum last night around 11:00 EST until I fell asleep on the couch around 3 a.m. Was it just me or was there a problem? Were you just doing more tune ups? I got a couple of varied messages and one was SERVICE NOT AVAILABLE all on a plan white web page.

The other odd thing that occurred was I'd click on my favorite link for this forum or ours from my home page and it would act like it was going to load and then it would flash and bring up my home page again. On a second attempt it would take me to the usual Web Page Not found or that SERVICE NOT AVAILABLE page.

quote:
I've tested it and it works for me.

I've also decided to use the spare server as a backup server in case the main webserver fails.

You can access it by replacing the "www" in You must be logged in to see this link. with "backup"
i.e. You must be logged in to see this link.

Both webservers run off the same database so there won't be cases of posts only being available on one forum or the other.

Since you have the spare web-server is that address OK to use when we find the forums down? Is the "backup" address OK to share with my Admin and Mods? What about the general membership?

You must be logged in to see this link. to You must be logged in to see this link. (now forumco.com)

They are running exactly the same forum software. The in effect rules out a problem
with the forums or servers. It must be something else.

Is this the same thing as mentioned in the first quote?

I sure wish I knew more about all of this and didn't need to ask so many questions.

As always thank you for all you've done,

Lady RV

Good to hear WillieW.

I was aware of the downtime last night. Not sure how long it was but I'm almost sure it won't happen
again. I started the forums again this morning and found the problem straight away. I made
the necessary changes to the webserver and it hasn't happened since.

We have had no issues at all. The forum has worked wonderfully.
