Hi again,
I realize my request of disabling the PM feature for my forum is the opposite of what most want.
However, It would be great if disabling pms were an option. And I understand that it is an option with the new version. As I stated before, it presents the potential for spam and in my case, cross sponsoring.
Although the PM feature has its pluses, I have found that it can be a nuisance. If you were to have PMs, you would probably notice a dramatic decrease in the number of posts on your main forum. Members bombard me with PMs that would serve a better purpose if they were posted on the forum.
I see that some Forumco members have switched to other forums. I do not want to go through the hassle of moving to a different forum company. I have been a satisfied Forumco customer since October of last year. I did not leave when our forums were down for a while last year. And I can even tolerate my forum going down from time to time as it did yesterday.
But an update about the new version from time to time would be appreciated.

Kevvy, I know you've been asking for PM's to be disabled for a long time and I apologise for not getting around to it sooner, but I've just disabled them on your forum.
I haven't gotten an adequate response from our provider for the estimated 6 hours or so downtime last weekend but I did hear a rumour that some of their servers were the victim of a DDOS attack. It could also have been related to the work that was carried out the weekend before or to a router problem they had earlier in the same week.
Overall I have to say I hate downtime even more than my customers if only for the fact that I get hundreds of emails an hour when the forums are down. It has to be siad that ECUi (out provider) have an excellent track record as far as uptime and customer service is concerned and have gone beyond the call of duty on a few occassions. For that alone I'm willing to put up with the infrequent unplanned downtime that every provider has anyway whether they like it or not.

People can still send PM's by going to the profiles. Is there a way to disable it there as well? Or perhaps adding a feature that allows only administrators and/or modrators to view profiles?
Thanks,
