A disk containing all of the forums failed at about 6am this morning.

I am in the process of restoring all forums from backups.

I expect to be fully up and running in about an hour.

We seem to have lost a few PMs and just one post - not bad considering.

Backups were only 21 hours old and could have been up to a week old.

One would think the use of RAID disk technology would preclude this type of catastrophic failure and loss of data.

Depends on the type of RAID setup. We use backups of the databases themselves. These along with the db transaction logs usually allow a restore up to a particular point in time.
