The search function on our forum doesn't seem to be working. No matter what I type in, it will always come up with "No Matches Found". At first I thought maybe everyone had the same problem, but then my hubby told me "no, you stupid twat, you probably done something wrong again!" lol. And wouldn't you know it, the search function here works perfectly, so it has to have something to do with our forum and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. We have LOADS of posts now, so it takes a while and is really annoying to search through them all, but I remember search used to work before so I don't know what I done wrong.
Would be really nice if someone could look into this, but please take your time and take care of yourself first
OH and I nearly forgot I had one more question lol. We have so many people signing up on our forum every day now, but I think they are spammers and bots so I delete them. Still, it's annoying and I have no idea what I done wrong now because it didn't used to be like that before. So now I'm just sat here wondering what I done wrong again like a twat. Does anyone know? As always, take your time.

I don't know if your situation is the same as mine, but my search option only works when I'm signed in. My forum is a "Private" forum and the SEARCH would not work for anyone that is not a member and logged in. That is expected, and the way mine should be doing. But it is working correct for me.
Post your forum's URL, if you'd like for me to see if I can get the SEACH to work correct. I don't have the power to fix it, but I can find out if it is something you are doing, or if it is your forum having problems. |

Okay, Here is the deal; I don't have access to all your forums (not being a member), but the one that I do have access to is the "Tasty, crunchy, sloofy FAQs!". If I just do a search, and do not set the area (sub-forum) to search in, I get a "No Items Found" report. But if I set it to the forum that I have access to, then it finds any and every thing I search for. What I think is going on is that the settings of the "Members Only" on the forums is causing you some problems with your searches. I don't know for sure if that is making a difference with your SEARCH option, but it might be.
Here is a tip: Don't search for words that would likely be in all post; such as "the"; "is"; and other common words to test the search option. Use one that is not likely to be found in a great number of post. If the search engine is looking for a "common" word it will simply report "No items Found".
I used the word "Deb" and I set the search area to the "Tasty, crunchy, sloofy FAQs!"; Because, I knew the word was there. The results came up just great.
Hope this helps you? |

Ok it seems has if I don't specify a forum, I won't get any results. I tried again, specifying which forum I wanted to search in, and it worked! I feel like a right twatbag now lol but that's nothing new. Thank you so much for taking the time to look into it, I really appreciate it, and I'm sorry it turned out that it was just me being a twat again lol :) |

The more we expect software and computers to do, the more complicated it becomes. One would think that you could find what you want in "All" forums by using that option? But, as I said the more we expect out of our phones, computers and the like-stuff, the more menus, and guidance we have to do to interact with them.
So what I'm trying to say is; give yourself a break! This stuff is not easy to keep up with; with all its changes how can anyone keep up. And no one person can know everything?
Don't always assume you are making a mistake on these darn programs. It often is not your fault when something doesn't work like it used to.
Have fun! |

That's very true!
Hmm, I tried again, specifying the forum, and this time it didn't work. But then I tried once more, and it worked lol. So I guess the lesson is to keep trying but nevermind! |
