Is there anyway we can get the Anti Spam thingy that is here to register on our forum? This is off your registration page. It would be a great help on our forum. So many registrations from what I assume are bots.

Confirm registration code To prevent mass registration programs from registering accounts, please enter the 6 digit code shown above in image format. Note: Only numbers are allowed, a '0' is a numerical zero, not the alphabetical 'O'.

Just registration or do you want it for non-logged people who want to post also ?
I'm also thinking of making a change to the forum software in order to combat link spam.
Any spam link posted to this forum gets added to the badwords list. All forums then use the support forums badword list instead of their own. Forum owners can add banned words to the list but not remove them. As a result, any time spam is posted here either me or you add the offending link (or the link to an image) to the banned words list and it gets banned on all forums automatically. Think it could work ? |

Just for registration. We do not want non-logged in people to even read most of the forum.
Anything that helps get rid of spam sounds great to me.

Sorry but it will probably be the weekend before I can add the code. Are you getting spam posts on your forum at all ? or just dodgy looking members ?
Its safer to have both defences. Non-logged in users can post if they supply a username and password when they try to post. |

No posters so far, maybe one a very long time ago. We have a bunch of fantastic moderators, so they catch things pretty quickly. We have just a bunch of people registering from questionable sites. A whole lot from Russia. The go straight to porn usually.
Which ever you think is best. We have never had non-logged in people post to my knowledge, but heck I have never tried it.
The weekend will be just fine. It will be a luxury to not have to watch for all those bot registrations...or at least that is what I think they are.
Thank you again so much for all you do. ForumCo is really the best. We love it at the Montana Owners Club.

Not totally off topic but our IP address check is not working at all. I have to copy and paste them to Arin Whois.
Thanks, Lady RV |

Unfortunately it won't work for all the free forums unless you want to write out 20,000 different questions & answers. If the questions and answers are the same on all forums then you defeat the purpose of it. |

Which ever you think is the best solution. Is there a way of doing both or would that be way too complicated?
