I've made changes to these two files; post.asp and post_info.asp which should speed up posting topics and replies.

If you notice and problems when posting or editing topics, replies, or anything else strange, please post the error in this thread.

Our post count is no longer increasing for members. The forum counts are going up though.

I'm making further changes in order to speed up posting so things may be a little slow for a while.

It now seems that the delays in posting are likely to be as a result of the amount of people subscribed to the board by email i.e.

Users subscribed to all topics on the board
Users subscribed to all topics in a forum
Users subscribed to individual topics

Padraic,

Is this something we should be concerned on our forum? We have so many subscriptions, I'm sure many are old. Is there a way of mass resetting or deleting?

You can turn them off altogether in the admin area. Your users could use RSS readers to subscribe to the forum instead.

I'm looking into making the subscriptions more efficient so don't do anything yet.

That makes 3. I find it only is cause by making a "Quick Reply" and not if you "Reply to topic".
Here is my forum You must be logged in to see this link.

Also, posting is slow.
