Okay....I have been doing every dam thing I know to do to take care of this problem members keep having getting into - and staying logged in!! NOW - 2 of my mods have resigned, and sited these technical problems as the reason why!

I definitely need some assistance, please. And, I personally have done everything I can - despite popular belief - I am not TOTALLY computer stupid. My members have done everything I have been told by you guys to do and still have major problems.

PROBLEMS consist of:

*Potential new members being unable to complete the registration process and receive access to the forums. They are told every thing is okay, but never receive member status. (Just like they never did anything)

*Members finding their user names and/or passwords are not valid. This seems to be when they return, after some time away from being there. Meaning they have posted before using the same, exact member name and password, but it now doesn't work!

*Members unable to STAY logged in. They say they must log in every time they try to do something.

*Members saying they consistantly receive "cannot find server"
when they click the forum url.

Granted, some of my members are limited in computer knowledge, but a good portion of them know what they are doing and don't understand these problems. This is having a DEFINITE affect on my forums!!

I registered without problem on your board. Check that the members didn't enter an incorrect email address. If they did, correct it by editing their profile from the members page and they will receive a new password.

Ask them to use the "Forgot password" link to retrieve their password. What you are describing above is impossible unless someone changed their password for them. Members are automatically logged out after about 30 days (I think) when the cookie expires.

Check that they can accept cookies. Also that the time / date / year is correct on their computer. If they are using IE 6, try this -

Today marks 21 days with only 5 minutes downtime for a security update. More than likely its a problem with their isp. Without any info at all its hard to say what is causing it.

Feel free to send them to this topic and report their problems. Here is a link to make it easy for them - You must be logged in to see this link.
(they will need to register on this board to post).

JTS, I attempted to help you with your problem, you never replied to my questions:

You must be logged in to see this link.

I too was able to register on your forum and then log in with no problems at all.

I realise that sometimes it can be very frustrating when you cannot pin down the problem. The more information you can get from your "problem" members the better for us to diagnose whats happening, e.g. get the browser & version number, operating system, username, etc.
