quote: Have verified with Provisioning the reinstallation will be their very first thing tomorrow morning. It has top priority and the first technician in will begin the process.
After that I have to reconstruct the databases. I don't know how long it will take. |

As an MSCE, I can understand the implications of a server move, but it should be no excuse to drop your customer support. It takes years to keep a customer and seconds to loose one. Should it not be in your interests to keep the paying customers notified for a service which they pay for. I do believe that Customer Service is the key to keeping your customers.
I am sure Padraic and Richard are screaming down the phonelines for the new server they purchased, what if the company selling it to them, took the same attitude! We'd we waiting even longer.
Richard could have more sympathy to people who are paying for this service. I just registered when it was down and doubt I wil be using these forums in the future. Now if your company had a different attitude, it might have been a different scenerio.
I smell a crisis! Good luck Lads! |

I never scream down the phone at anybody. If you look you will see numerous threads on the subject of the recent downtime with different posts by myself and Richard about the problems / solutions, etc.
As someone who has just joined this forum and never had any experience of ForumCo's services I don't think you are qualified to comment on any aspect of it.
I have no news from Ecui as yet today regarding the state of the server. |

Padraic,
I know you must be going mental with all these problems. I miss my forum, and my members do too, but we all understand that stuff just happens sometimes. Good luck with getting them back up and running, and thanks!

I can attest that the forums have been goin down for "weeks". I also agree, that setting a mailing list and typing one letter to be autmatically sent to the group should not be a hard thing to do. This way, everyone can be notified with one send button to push. I am wlling to wait, becuase to try and set up somewhere else would mean a lose of information, boards and messages. This is the first time that I have ever encountered a problem with the forums not working. Other than this, I have had wonderful uptime! I appreciate your time and effort to get it up and running, but the notification would be a nice customer service policy as well. Also, since it has been almost a month, will you be issuing a refund to us for the down time? Or perhaps not charing for next month as a courtesy for the inconvenience? |

| The problem (as I have stated elsewhere on this board) is that the database with all the forum owners email addresses was contained on the same server that is giving the problem. There was no way to email everyone, thats why I directed everyone here (including members of forums, not just the admins). |

I've been working on the server for the last couple of hours.
Its nearly ready, all there is left to do is reattach the databases which I cannot do until I speak to Microsoft tomorrow morning at 8am (they are closed now).
I'm not going to say the forums will be back tomorrow as I have no idea how long it will take to reattach the databases. There are also a few that need to have repairs done. Hopefully this will be one of the final stages. |

Do you think that the forums will be back online by Sunday? I hope, as I do miss the forums... |

| I have been with Forumco for a long time and can tell you that this has never happened before and can also tell you that if any of us think that what these folks are doing is easy than we need to consult our doctors, data base problems are the worst and it's not just a click of the mouse to fix it.Padraic, I'm here for the long run, Keep up the good work, and if you think he has time to respond to our post's in the middle of this mess again consult your doctor! |
