I won't know until lunchtime today as its the middle of the night where ECUI are. I've cancelled the server with the new host. Now that the problem has been identified hopefully it won't take too much longer.
That isn't true, we were all promised Monday at the latest and then Monday came and went with no update. If you can't stick to your own promises (for whatever reason) the least you can do is let us know in good time that a deadline won't be met rather than telling us nothing and then responding to complaints.
One thing I can guarantee is that I'm not going to stop until the forums are back online even if it takes months (it won't). I cannot just let ForumCo die after almost three years work, even if I have no customers left.
I've asked ECUI to reinstall Windows and Sql Server on the database server. Its not known how long it will take but they usually get around to it within 24 hours.
Here's your inevitable "How long is a piece of string?" question...
Assuming they reinstall the software on the server within a day or so, what is the next procedure and what ballpark figure can you give us on how long this step will take?
And while I think of it, (if it's not a market sensitive question you'd prefer not to answer), how many forums have been affected by the recent difficulties?
All forums have been affected. About 600-700 I think.
If they reinstall everything by tomorrow it might only take a day or two to get everything back to normal after that. Assuming I can contact Microsoft Tech Support and that nothing else goes wrong. Touch wood.
