A few times when members have tried to reply to a post they get the following response

quote:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e31'

Timeout expired

/post_info.asp, line 1223

I have had a look and none of the posts preceeding the attempted response are all that lengthy. Any ideas what is causing it and how do I prevent it?

I know why its happening right now, a rather large backup happens on Sunday. I've noticed a slight slowness when posting at other times also.

That's okay ... as long as it is just a server issue I am not too worried. I've started You must be logged in to see this link. as a discussion forum I was a part of had been getting increasingly under attack from hackers and thread blockers (with the latter causing 'time out' notices). As long as I know it isn't that again, I'm content enough.

We have a range of things in place to prevent such nastiness.

When posting or replying needs to be speeded up. Its on my list of things to do.

It has gotten so bad, I can't post anything on my site, nothing to even tell them that I've come here to check on the problem.
