I'd love some sort of pop up when you want extra special info to be said to the people who come to my forum, do you think this can be done?? Thanks Padraic!!

Nope. Most users will have them blocked anyway using google or some other toolbar.

You can create a featured poll and show it on the main page. It can contain any info you like in the description.
