Within the last couple of days, I've had a couple of people from the UK e-mail me that when they log in, they get the message that they're logged in - thank you for participating however; the system then kicks them out again. When they try to click on a topic, they get a message saying they are not logged in.

I've tried to log in using their usernames and passwords and have had no trouble getting in and looking around the forum. The only thing I can think of is that something is not compatible with their systems. (So far, this has only happened to my UK users) Any ideas of what this may be?

Find out what browser, operating system and if they have a firewall running.

Ask them to check if the time, date and year is set correctly on their computer.

If they are running Internet Explorer 6, ask them to do this;

>> >
>> > Click Tools > Internet Options > Privacy
>> >
>> > Under "Websites" at the bottom click "Edit" (on the right)
>> >
>> > Under "Address of Website" type forumco.com and click "allow".
>> >
>> > Click Ok.
>> >
>> > This brings you back to the privacy popup box.
>> >
>> > Click "Advanced" in the middle of the box.
>> >
>> > Make sure that "Overide automatic cookie handling" is checked.
>> >
>> > Under "first party cookies" check "Accept"
>> > Under "third party cookies" check "Accept"
>> >
>> > Always allow session cookies should also be checked.
>> >
>> > click ok and ok again.
>> >
>> > Close all Internet Explorer windows.
>> >
>> > Open Internet explorer and try to login to the forum.

Thank you. Explorer 6 was the problem for both gals. They've followed the steps and are now in! -- Cathy

I followed all those steps but I still cannot get in. I am the administrator on the site and I cannot change anything. Any more ideas?

Make sure that cookies are enabled and that the right time / date / year are set on your computer.

Do you have a firewall running?

What error do you get or what happens when you try to login?

I try three or four times to log in and I finally get in when I hit the non-secure login, but it doesn't keep it there. Cookies are enabled and date and everything is correct. Then next time I go back in I have to log into the secure one and it lets me in. Any suggestions? Never had this problem before.

If you are seeing the non-secure login, then you're seeing cached pages either from a proxy server your isp is routing you through or from your temporary internet files.

1. Clear out your temporary internet files.
2. Ask your isp to add "forumco.com 66.98.139.252" to their proxy no-cache list.
Their email address is support@pacbell.net

If it still happens, then we can try other things.

Sorry, I was looking at the wrong forum, yours is You must be logged in to see this link.
and has the secure & non-secure login option. You should still try the two suggestions above.

In order to fix the broken image on the top left, you need to set the image in the admin area.

How come I can log on here ok? This tells me its something with the forum and not my computer. I log on as usual...then it says sucessfully logged on, then the screen comes back and I am not logged on....so I clickon the unsecure logon words and it connects me and gives me my admin rights. Its not just me, its others too.

I know about the link on the left, I am rebuilding and haven't got around to that yet :)

I upgraded it to the newest version. That should fix your problems although you will have to
login the first time due to changes in the cookies the forum will set.

If you have any problems, post here.
