Padriac, I still cannot access my forum home page. I understand that things happen but this is the second time since I have discovered your site that that there was downtime for several days (without any sort of notification). Obviously, we cannot have this sort of unreliability with our students/forum participants. NOthing personal...I know you're doing what you can but....I am seriously considering not continuing with your sevices.
rl
There was an issue with the database server over the last 24 hours which has been resolved now. Let me know if you have any further problems.

Padriac, Hi again.. Sorry but...Friday to Monday afternoon I consider a few days that I couln't connect to my forum. (page didn't even come up). As of this afternoon (monday), I know can bring up the page. rl
There wasn't downtime for several days. The database server became unresponsive to RDC for about 16 hours due to this problem with Windows 2003 - You must be logged in to see this link. During that time, connecting to the forum was still possible although there were some timeout errors & slowness.
All forums should be working normally since it was fixed, what is your username? [/quote] |

I need to know your username e.g. You must be logged in to see this link.
As it turns out 5 forums weren't copied over to the new server during the problem with the database server. I need to check your forum to see what exactly happened or if there is anything amiss.
If you cannot connect to your forum at any time, copy the error message (if you get one) to an email and send it to info@forumco.com
I don't always get a chance to respond but the more information I have, the better I can deal with it.
Most, if not all of the recent problems have been due to the migration to new servers running Windows Server 2003. Before we moved to the new servers, I tested out the new operating system for over a month. It was only when it was moved into production did the problems occur and could not have been foreseen. I have not ruled out further downtime but I am working on preventing it as best I can. |

Padriac, I am writing to cancel service with Forum Co. I am sure you understand that we cannot afford to risk having frequent downtime--as happened recently. The first time that it happened I was just in the process of evaluating your company with our IT department. I actually thought you'd gone out of business because there were several days that the Forum co website did not come up. When it returned I contacted you with several questions one being the frequency of down time like the one I had just experienced. You assured me that it was rare and that there is always a message sent out to member announcing/explaining about down time. I find the recent downtime to be indicative of reoccuring problems AND I was not notified in any manner. As I could not access the support fourm I sent an email but got no reply. I hope you understand that ask the forum is the 'face' of our company we cannot risk working with a company that has frequent downtime. Also, the fact that your company is located in Europe makes for added delays. Please re-credit my credit card and discontinue the service. It you have any quesitons. I can be reached at :646-254-8549. Rhonda Lynn

Padriac, Thanks for the reply. I did receive you 6/14 email about password protection... so, I don't think there is a spam protector issue. I realize you are taking steps to be sure there is not additional down time but... as this is for a company and not personal use, I think we best find a solution more within our control. Thank you for your efforts and good luck. Rhonda |

Padriac, I went to the world pay website but it seems you may have to do something from your end. Text from their FAQ section: I need to return my product/cancel my order/get a refund Please contact the store from which you made the purchase. WorldPay processes online payments on behalf of the store, but we do not handle the goods and we are not authorised to cancel orders or give refunds. Please advise. Rhonda

In the original email you got from WorldPay, there was a username and password which you may use to login to your WorldPay account. From there you can see all payments, change your credit card details, cancel the FuturePay agreement, etc.
The Faq you were reading is pertaining to physical goods where there is a one off payment and not relevant to your agreement with ForumCo. If you ask WorldPay to cancel, refund, etc. they won't for security reasons, you must do it from your account.
If you cannot find the username and password, you may retrieve it here - You must be logged in to see this link. (You will need your FuturePay ID which you can get from any email WorldPay sent you).
If you have difficulty logging in, I can cancel it for you if you send me one of the WorldPay emails.
Once its cancelled I will look at your billing record and contact you by email.
Apologies for your experience here at ForumCo, it has had to be the worst time in four years (ForumCo was 4 on the 8th August) which I can remember and in the end it was mostly down to unpublicised differences between the way the new webserver on Windows Server 2003 works and is not normal (just ask any of the regulars). I'm just glad its resolved now. |

Padraic, Thanks for the information. I do not have an email from World Pay but I called them to get the transaction number (There is no future pay agreement because I signed up for the 1/2 yr services. I prefer to email you the transaction ID. I will put in the subject WorldPay transaction ID.
If you need anything else, please let me know. Once again, good luck to you. Thanks for all your help. Rhonda |
