Someone posted a question on rv.net about a problem signing up for MOC. Said that on the registration page it ask you to enter the 6 digit security code. But it only gives you a 3 digit code. It would not allow them to sign up with only the 3 digits. I looked at the registration page and sure enough, it ask for 6 but only gives 3. Anyone have an answer for that?
I have also encountered lately a problem when I edit a members profile. Instead of it just allowing me to change information it reacts like it always has but changes the password and then they can't get on the forum. I then have to assign them a temporary password and once they gain access to the forum they can change their password in their profile. It was never like that before. Can we get it back to the way it was?
In advance thank you ForumCo!!!

An update with extra information regarding registration. I did a test registration and it worked with only 3 numbers. It does say enter the 6 digit code but entering only 3 and hitting submit does work. |

The 6 is a typo, it should say 3. I'll look at it this evening.
Thank you Padraic, appreciate it. Can you check out the issue below as well? How was your vacation? I hope you had a fabulous time!

I have fixed the typo. When you edit a members profile does your browser enter a password for you? Some browsers store your usernames and passwords and enter your username and password on any page requesting a username and password under the original domain. For example, if your browser remembers your username and password for the register or login page on the forum, it may be entering your password when editing a members profile. My browser (chrome) does this and I have to manually remove the password (obscured ****** in the password field) when editing a member.
Can you check to see if the password field is populated when editing a member? |

Yes, it appears the password field does show the obscured ******. Thank you for the information. I use Firefox. I will have to be mindful in the future when editing a profile. Thank you for cluing me in to that.
We've had restricted registration on for quite some time. Every time we've changed it back to the original/easy way we seem to get someone who comes on and spams the forum. The last one sent e-mails to all of the members with a scam type letter requesting money. When that happened we went back to approving each one and checking the IP address. As Admins we prefer it unrestricted, but seems to attract unwelcome registration.
Thank you so much for your help. We sincerely appreciate it. |

Problem solved then?
Yes, I think so. I've always had a password saver, but assume with browsers always updating that they've increased the features to do this. I appreciate your help and guidance and will let you know if anything comes up. Have a wonderful day! |
