The downtime over the last 36 hours was due to a hardware fault on the database server. It took our provider about 12 hours to diagnose the fault and another 12 to transfer the disks, etc to a new server. I've been rebuilding the server for the last few hours (attaching the databases, etc.) and everything should be back to normal now.

Let me know if something doesn't work as it should.

Thanks for getting us back up. But yes I have a problem, or rather one of my members does. She uses Mac and instead of quotation marks she sees a black diamond with a white question mark inside of it. No one else has mentioned this. Any thoughts?

Padraic,

Here's a link to one of the pages with quotation marks.: You must be logged in to see this link. All the posts on this page have quote marks.

She wrote me that she is getting the diamond substitute throughout the forum wherever quotes are used. Thanks for any help you can provide,

I'll try it on a Mac later this evening.

Can you find out what country she's in? (or language she uses)
What browser is she using ?

Thank you for the information Padraic, It believe your forum is working great. Oddly not one member mentioned downtime on the forum. That's a first.

She is using Macbook Pro with OS X version 10.4.11, and Firefox is the browser. She lives in the US. I believe she has used Safari as well.

thanks so much

I tried it on MAC OS X V 10.5.2 without problem. It shows the quotes as normal. Can she post a screenshot of the problem?

I tried it using Safari and Firefox.

I don't know enough about Mac's to suggest what could be wrong but it doesn't seem like it is on our end. Maybe they can help over here - You must be logged in to see this link.

The gal who was having the problem wrote me that it stopped. Go figure. I suppose her Mac software could have performed an update that helped with the compatibility. I really don't know anything about Macs; I know my software has automatic updates.

Thank you for taking the time to look into this.
