ANYONE OUT THERE? Maybe I missed the memo or something, usually y'all are pretty quick to reply to questions concerning your Forumco board problems? Anyhow, our board is having slow loading and time out problems and I can NOT archive Off Topics in our board. It's way to big, I've tried several times. Thanks to whoever can help me here
Our board is running slow and I'm sure it is time to Archive. I've read everything in here concerning Archiving and I see how to do it. Our board is fairly large, You must be logged in to see this link.
Should I Archive the entire board, or rather do it by sections?
When I archive, will it affect any of the posters on the board? Will they experience any technical difficulties or not?
Should I archive during the times that most posters are "not" on the board, or does it matter? I don't want to disrupt their board posting?
Thanks

Another important question regarding this "Archiving"
There is a section in our board that has active Co-Ops and what we call FSOT or rather "For Sale or Trade". Transactions basically. I'm wondering if I should archive that or not, since there are posts that may seem old, but they are sitting and waiting for replies. Should I warn the people posting in that section or what?
Also, this is how active our board is

Forum There are 93950 Posts in 16090 Topics in the Forum. |

I would only archive one section/forum at a time. I don't have an answer for you on the "Off Topics", sorry.

I have the same problem with my forum: You must be logged in to see this link.
It won't archive anything - no matter if I select only some sections or not... I have tried so many variations by now - nothing works. It's just telling me that some forums are overdue. But when I try to archive them it says:
Administrative Forum Archive Functions Archive all topics: No Replies were Archived: none found
No Topics were Archived: none found
Updating Counts
Topics: . Topic Replies: ................................................................................ .. Forum Replies: ............ Totals: Total Topics: 1323 Total Archived Topics: 325 Total Posts: 22752 Total Archived Posts: 4529 Count Update Complete
What shall I do? My forum is horribly slow these days and I figure it might be connected to this.

Thanks Lady RV, I've tried doing each section one at a time. The "big" one, I get the same message that Dusty mentioned. So, it is "Beyond" what I can do, how do I go about fixing this?

You might try archiving only forums that have not received any postings during the time period you are attempting to archive. If a reply to a topic, or new topic, has been made during the dates (within the time period) you are archiving, the archive will not work. All post must be older than the time period you are archiving. This may not be your problem, but thought I’d point it out, just in-case it is.
I should have said “If a reply has been made to what your trying to archive, and it was made after the archive time period requested, the archive will not work; Meaning they are tied together and you can not archive only part of a thread, etc...” |

Thanks RULmer, good to know.
Padriac, I tried 30 and 60 days, neither one would work. I tried archiving each section individualy and I was able to archive a small one. But, the "big one", I was unable to archive it at all. I tried several times. |

Yes, there are topics older than 30 days in this particular part of our forum.
The slowdowns/problems are "timeouts", and just slow in general for everyone. Slow loading, and sometimes it won't even load up and people give up. That's about as specific as I can get. There have been no other problems with the board other than that and I figured that archiving the "Off Topics" section of our board would fix this particular problem.
Thanks |

Wow, Dr. Chou En Ginsberg, that thread is 56 pages long!
On our board, it doesn't matter if the thread is 3 or 100 pages long, it's just slow loading for everyone when you first open up the "Off Topics" section of our board. |
