Just checking it didn't have any side effects. I'm glad it happened actually, if it didn't I wouldn't have made the change to the db server. I think there is still room for improvement though.

I just got an error while trying to view this topic but it just took one refresh to view it. I'll keep monitoring it over the weekend.

Any problems since ?

I made a change to the database server yesterday evening which should improve performance further. Let me know if you notice any unusual problems by providing as much info as possible.

Sorry no ... it happened to one of my members and they didn't keep an error copy ... but it hasn't happened since. I've told all my members now to send me any time out error notices. Mind you telling them and making sure they do are two different things.

hmmmm....

I'll have to try to set it up so that the forum emails me when timeout errors occur.
It should happen less and less though. I plan to make another change this evening which should double the amount of open connections between the database server and the outside world further reducing the risk of it happening.

I'm getting this error on every new topic posted. It's also stopping alot of members from posting too.
The only way round it I have found is to post message. wait for error, then go back a page then forward a page and refresh then retry. 90% of the time it posts the message.
Any help appreciated

Does it happen after 5 seconds or does it take longer, maybe 30 seconds?

Can you post a screenshot of it happening ?
