Apologies for thread resurrection, but I am also interested in this possibility. As I understand it from testing it in my forum, members will receive an email for each new post, so that email notifications can get rather spammy. If I've misunderstood it, please do let me know!
Similar to the original poster, I would love an option that allows one to receive an email only for new topics for board and category subscriptions. Then, subscribing to a particular topic thread would allow one to receive email notifications as it is now, for every post to the topic.
Additionally, presuming I haven't missed a help file or option somewhere, would it be possible to implement options similar to what's available in google groups? They allow email subscriptions to be sent say, once a day, and it would list out all the topics that had new posts for that day.
