How does admin or a moderator go about moving a message from one topic to another?

How does an Admin go about editing a members profile? In an old message you said the Admin can change a members post # by editing it.

1. Edit the first post in a thread and select the new forum from the dropdown list.

2. Goto the members page and click the pencil icon to the right of the member. You must be logged in as an admin.

Thanks for your response.

1) I don't want to move the whole topic. Just one message in the thread which should be in a different topic. I've seen that in other forums.

2) Thank you. I was trying to change a user's name and when doing so and entering the edit user page using my admin verification, the screen that comes up has the wrong info on it to edit. Part of it is my own information and part of it is the person I want to edit. What's the problem?

1. Its called Split Topic. I'll look into it.
2. I haven't seen that happen. What is the member name and your forum url ?

1) Great. I hope it's something that can be set up for us to do.

2) It happens on every member when I try to Modify User Profile. Maybe I'm not doing it correctly. I click on the pencil to edit their profile. It takes me to a log on screen that says only admin can edit profiles. I am an admin so I enter my user name and password and am taken to the Modify User Screen where it has my own information. Am I doing it wrong? I will PM you my forum url.

1. Its likely to take quite a while if it does happen.

2. It may be because you are viewing a cached version of profile.asp. Try clearing out your temporary internet files and trying again. If your browser is not caching the page, your isp might. Do you know if your isp uses a proxy server?

I cleaned out my temp files and it's still the same. I don't know about the proxy server question. A couple of days ago I sent you a PM with my forum URL and it happens with every user when I try to modify their profile.

Contact your ISP and ask them to add *.forumco.com 67.15.143.35 to their no-cache list.

Sometimes ISP's use a proxy server to cache pages and serve them to their customers. This cuts down on the amount of bandwidth they need (and the associated cost).

I just had this happen to me. It was caused by FireFox inserting my username and password automatically into the profile page.
