my forum url is You must be logged in to see this link. and I would like to know how to close the forum for an extended period of time. I have tried the admin cotrols section to close it however it will only stay closed for up 20 minutes. This is frustrating.
If I can not keep it closed for longer that 20 minutes at a time, I will want to know the process of deleting the forum from the forumco.com server and closing the forum permanently. Thank you for your help.

In order to keep the forums running fast we recycle memory usage every 15 minutes which affects the "Shut down forum" feature. There are two options available to you.
You could lock all categories, enable "require registration" and "prohibit new members". This would effectively close the forum until you wanted to open it again.
I could temporarily delete it. In order to get it back you would have to refer to this thread.
Let me know what you want to do. |

Padraic,
I will try the first way, however I might need the temporary delete. Thank you for your help!

Hi Padraic,
I asked on another thread, but what we would like to do, ideally, is to have the forum closed and hidden, but have access to the old data by the administrators only.
If this isn't possible, could you explain how we could copy all the old forum data to CDs? |

I would like to know the same thing as Dave. I have a customer that would like to have the forum accessible for admins only (and hidden)... |
