Your forum was deleted for inactivity. There were no posts since February 12th, 2005 (over a year).

Because your forum was deleted for inactivity the backup was also deleted. The forum shouldn't be too hard to re-create however I can understand if you wish to move elsewhere. It should not have happened and you have my full apologies. Your members will have to register again. Let me know what you want to do. |

I feel angry and upset that my forum was deleted. I was paying for the forum and feel entitled to believe that it would not be simply deleted without warning!I appreciate the fact that you have apologised for deleting it and saying that this should not have happened. I still feel very badly let down.
In fact this is the second time my forum has been deleted on grounds of frequency of contibutions. The first time was early on and I assumed it was a teething glitch. I am now wondering if it is policy. I can understand a policy of deleting free forums if they are not used much, since I am guessing you have some kind of deal with advertisers, but when I am paying for the service.... that is really not on!!!
The apparent assumption that a forum is only useful if it is used a lot is quite wrong!! My forum dealt with an area of phisophy which is not covered anywhere else on the net. I was never expecting quick fire discussion. The contributions that were on the forum were very high quality.
Although there were relatively few entries in the forum, some of the threads were viewed by hundreds of people. A forum which has only 9 or 10 unique and highly original contributions in a year is a service I am prepared to pay for.
Because you have deleted the backup, this very important record of discussion has been lost. The loss not only to current users of the forum but to potential future users as well. It also has a direct impact on my own research in this area.
I have nothing to show for the time, effort and money I have put into this forum. It seems there is nothing you can now do about the loss of material. Nor can you recompense me for my time. The very least you can do is to recompense me for the money I have spent on this forum, as a gesture towards making amends. I clearly have not recieved the service I was paying for and was entitled to.
For the sake of other forumco users I strongly recommend you investigate very thoroughly why this error happened -twice (OR, if it was not infact an error, make your policy explicit regarding deleting forums without warning)
I look forward to hearing from you. Regretably, I do not feel I can risk attempting to set up another forum with forumco

In certain cases we have to delete paid forums which have been inactive for long periods of time. There have been cases in the past where we have tried to contact forum owners to no avail only to receive chargebacks from their credit card company months later. In your case there were no posts in 14 months. The standard (not set by us) is to delete free forums with no posts or admin logins in 30 days and paid forums with no posts or admin logins in six months.
It is not our responsibilty to backup data which you believe to be important. If you believe something is "very important" then you should take steps to ensure that you have a record of it. Our obligation is to provide a discussion forum not an archive. I can supply you with some if not all of the content and I will get back to you shortly. |
