I think everyone would agree that it isn't normal. I'll keep monitoring the situation as I have been all weekend.

Okay - I've tried accessing one of my forums at a different location than I've been at all weekend - I turned on the timer on the forum so that I could get the time it took to load the page -

This is on the Jimmy Osmond forum for the home page on the forum:
This page was generated in 111.2 seconds

On the forumco support forum homepage it took 17.84 seconds
On the topic page it took 12.77 seconds
To load this page it took 66.82 seconds

This is what I get

I'll be banning the robot in about 30 minutes but I'm not 100% sure that it will fix your problem. Were you able to do the traceroute ?

I've banned the robot. It will take a few minutes for it to kick in.

I'm not convinced it was the robot alone but I'll keep monitoring. Its strange that I didn't see delays worth talking about (seven seconds at most). I'm in Ireland, you're in Atlanta, the servers are in Texas. You would think that if anyone was going to see delays it would be me?

Actually, I'm also in Texas - I don't understand why I was getting the delays but my forum users were too - everything seems to be fine now - and will check periodically throughout the day.

I'm glad that its working for you now. I apologise if it seemed like I wasn't concerned earlier, I can assure you that I am always concerned if something isn't working properly. It doesn't do me any good not to be. The last thing I need is forums which are unusable.

Padraic - Yes, everything still seems fine on both forums - the forum users have also commented that things are much better now, so whatever you did, it worked. Thanks for your help with everything. :)

I've made a change to the firewall today to see if it will help with Firefox users getting banned for minor infractions. If you notice anything, let me know.
