Hello Forumco.com

I currently am running a forum using your service however I am interested in upgradeing my site to bannerless/advertisingless status. The only difficulty I see is that the originaly person who set up and registered the forum is no longer an active member of our group.

Can I transfer the registration information to myself?

If so how?

Please advise about my options.

Technically anyone can pay for a forum to be upgraded to advertising free. You might want to contact the original admin and ask him / her to make you an admin on the board before you do pay for it.

Note: You won't be able to upgrade for a while, at least until the current problems are fixed.

Actually I was upgraded to admin status but I'm not "THE" admin. He still holds the highest flag on the forum, before he left our group. I suppose the question I need to ask is: "Can you elevate me to his status?" or Do I need to start an entirely new forum.

Thanks
Wildice

The safest thing for you then would be to pay monthly if you do decide to go through with it. I would have to respect the wishes of the owner (the opther admin) if ever a dispute arose.

hehe Sorry to bother you so much.

Suppose if I started a completely new forum and set it up and paid for it myself. Could the members and other posts be "copied" to the new forum without disturbing the old forum? The problem really isn't the location OR the name. Its the membership info and the old messages, I would like to retain those since the content would be difficult and timely to reproduce.

Thanks
Wildice

Presumably you could. However if the owner of the original forum complained that the forum content was his he could object on copyright grounds. Are you in contact with the original owner?

Yes I am in contact with the original creator of the forum. What type of clearance would I need to get from him in order to achieve the transfer?

Wow thanks for all your help so far :)

Ask him to email me from the email address he signed up with and request that ownership be transferred to your email address. If he cannot use the email address he signed up with anymore, ask him to email me the original password.
