Is it because of this server move that my forum, You must be logged in to see this link. gets an error message the past couple of days?
500 - Internal server error. There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

Well since you asked - *NO*!!!
We continue to be blocked by AT&T (and its brethren - PacBel, SW Bell Nevada Bell, etc) because the ForumCo SMTP server is considered a source of SPAM. This has been going on since the server move last year. There was hope the latest server move to another set of IP addresses would get around the problem. No such luck. The latest IP address of 68.233.244.203 for the SMTP server fails the same as the previous IP address of 174.123.0.154. Apparently they are also sensitive to the URL???
Below are the messages returned from nvbell.net (in this case). Can ForumCo get with AT&T and resolve this blockage? ===========================================================

And while we are at it, here is yet another problem with email due to the recent "Server Move".
Comcast is rejecting all email from the ForumCo SMTP servers (which our Montana Owner Conference (along with all other forums hosted here) uses) due to:
"Comcast requires that all mail servers must have a PTR record with a valid Reverse DNS entry. Currently your mail server does not fill that requirement."
This means we have no email capability to members with AT&T (and friends) or Comcast email addresses. I wager this is a significant portion of the membership. I haven't tried Hotmail, Gmail, or Yahoo email addresses, but it wouldn't surprise me they have the same "PTR Record" issue.
Below is the rejection message from Comcast ======================================================
Could not deliver message to the following recipient(s):
Failed Recipient: jdpgroup@comcast.net Reason: Remote host said: 554 imta35.emeryville.ca.mail.comcast.net comcast 68.233.244.203 Comcast requires that all mail servers must have a PTR record with a valid Reverse DNS entry. Currently your mail server does not fill that requirement. For more information, refer to: You must be logged in to see this link.

SPF, Domain Keys and PTR should now all be in place.
Can you test to see if you still get the Comcast and AT&T errors?
Still broken. Both Comcast and Cox email systems reject the email. The AT&T errors are related to SMTP server being classified as a source of SPAM and not because of the missing PTR or RDNS errors.
Here are the messages from Comcast:

I will try sending email to Comcast, Cox, and AT&T in a few days after the changes have had a chance to migrate through the network. Thanks for working on this. |
