I want to make my board where people can subscribe to the whole board. My question one is how does a subscription work? Can they reply via email too? Or do they just see the the posts? Also can it make it where not the whole board gets the subscription just members who want it? Next I think I did what I need to do to make the forum for subscriptions but I still don't see the option at the top (how long does that normally take?)like I see on this board where it asks if you want to subscribe to the board. Thanks in advance.
Misty

Small distinction: A Board is made up of Categories which are made up of Forums which are made up of Topics.

In the admin area goto Feature Config and you will see a dropdown for Subscriptions. You had it set to forum when you really wanted it to be set to allow subscriptions for the whole board. I changed it for you.

Go to the main page of the forum while logged in as admin. You will need to set the subscription rules for each category and forum. Just edit each category or forum by clicking the pencil icon to the right of it and choose the level of subscriptions allowed. If in doubt set it to the highest.

Something like this.

Category 1 (allow category subscriptions)
|_____Forum 1 (allow forum subscriptions)
|_____Forum 2 (allow topic subscriptions)

Users could then choose to do any of the following

1. Subscribe to Board
2. Subscribe to Category 1
3. Subscribe to Forum 1
4. Post or reply to a topic in Forum 2 (only these people will receive emails from Forum 2)

Moderators never receive email subscriptions. If you reply by email it will go to the forum admin, not the forum.

Its actually not that simple at all. It took me quite a while to fully understand subscriptions. Do you know how to set up the categories, etc ?

You first need to edit the category and allow "Subscribe to Topic". Then edit a forum in that category and select "Subscribe to Topic". I've done the first one for you

Category >> Forum
1)The Forum Rulez--Please Read Before Registering! >> Welcome To The Forum At Perryville.

You will have to edit each category and then the forums in them to allow "Subscribe to Topic".

You had "Forum Subscriptions" set for each category. This means that each user would have to subscribe to each forum on the board individually. I have changed each category to allow for "Category Subscriptions". This should allow users to subscribe to the whole board and receive emails from each Category>Forum>Topic.

See the fourth post above - You must be logged in to see this link.

The only way to be sure if it works is to test it. Post in the forum she's subscribed to and ask her to check her email (and her spam folder).

Ok I'm having a terrible time with testing my subscriptions .
I followed all the steps listed above and created a secondary account to receive subscription. Can you be subscribed to Forum and still receive emails for posts to a topic in a Forum?
Help please :-)
