OK, so I set up my board. I had my admin username, then yesterday added another username as myself. Today, I want to make a user a moderator, but I can't figure out how I did it yesterday! When I click on Moderator Setup, then click on a Forum, the only 2 people that show up are myself twice, once as the admin, and once as the other user that I set up as. Yes, I am trying to do this under the admin username. ALso, when I go to Moderator List, it only shows the same 2 users! HELP PLEASE!

Goto the members page and edit the member you want to make a moderator by clicking the pencil icon to the right of the page. On the bottom right of the members page change "Normal User" to "Moderator" and click submit.
Then goto the admin area. The user should now appear as a moderator. |

| Ok, What can and can't the moderaters do? Would it be better to make another person administrator in my forum? Do they use the same password they sign in with or do I have to give them a new one or what? |

| Ok, but what I am needing is someone other then myself to post, edit, delete, in case I am either out of town or unable to make changes. Is administrator right the same as Forum Admin? |

Normal users can post. So can moderators but they can also edit and delete.
An administrator can make huge changes to the board including deleting everything. By creating another admin you are doubling the chances that a malicious user will guess a password and ruin your board. |

Well, I was talking to the one I was making a moderator, and he told me he couldn't view the edit (pencil) or anything esle. All he could see was a folder that would allow him to post. Thanks. You must be logged in to see this link. |

| Well, if you have a moderator that is moderating a forum, but he behaves badly and you need to take away his power, does this automaticly affect on the boards? |

I'm not sure.
If you take away the moderator powers they will no longer be able to moderate those forums. If you give back moderator powers you may have to reassign them to each forum or they may continue where they left off.
Have you tried it? |

I used the procedure at the top of this thread to change a user to a moderator. Unfortunately, I didn't notice that when I clicked the edit pencil it changed the user's name and password to my admin name & password. When I hit submit, I got an error saying user name already in use.
I went back and edited the name, but have no idea what the original password was, so had to set it to something arbitrary and e-mail him.
Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong, so it doesn't substitute my info when editing a member's profile?
Thanks |

Are you clicking the pencil icon across from the member name (not your admin account) ?
It must be the password manager built into Mozilla. I just tried using IE, and it worked fine. Thanks for the tip! |
