I have just come back from a few days in london to find my password on our board has changed, or at least I certainly can not login. I have not changed my password in nearly a year (probably not a good thing) however my password seems to have changed.
In light of recent events (i.e. people posting as me and modifying my profile) I believe that someone has managed to change my password.
Just reset your password by using the forgot password link.
The problem we were having with the old server caused posts to go to the wrong people in certain cases. It doesn't mean that they were able to compromise your account. If someone had compromised your account they would have had to change your email address to do it. Your email address is the same as it is here on this forum.
All sorted, many thanks, although im still not sure how my password was compromised. Even if someone physically accessed my PC they would need the password to change it. Very very odd.
All passwords at ForumCo are encrypted with a one way algorithm called sha256. In English, the password is encrypted using a 256 bit hash which means it cannot be decrypted. It is mathematically impossible. I have access to all encrypted passwords (in the forum databases) and I cannot decrypt them because there is no way to do it. Nor would I want to.
Don't forget that the server was behaving erratically over the last few days. I'm as happy about that as you are. I'm just thankful that the damage done was minimal compared to You must be logged in to see this link. just over a month ago. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
Woah! You've got to be kidding me! EZboard too? I wonder if it's the same people. It's kind of strange that this happened a whole month after EZboard was hit.
