Hi, Padraic!

Was wondering . . . can we make special requests for Avatars? Or, create our own?

How do you mean "special requests" ?

You can add your own at anytime through the admin area.

Oh, forgive this technology challenged user:). At first I assumed you added them. And, then I thought . . . hhhhmmmm, maybe we can add them. I didn't even know we could have one till one of our users started using one.

So, this is ALL new to me.

Thanks and hopefully, I can figure out how to add without having to come back here

Of course, I had no clue! Do you have a tutorial for adding my own avatar . . . or, a quick way to tell me. It's not a big deal (at all) and so no hurry.

Go here - You must be logged in to see this link.
Enter the url to the avatar you have uploaded to a website somewhere.
Give it a name.
If you want to reserve it for someone, choose a name from the list.
Press "Submit Avatar"

Easy.

I'm waiting to get signed up with a website that provides them. I never got the confirmation e-mail. So will deal with it tomorrow. But, I think I have it all down if I can just get the proper URL. Thanks for checking back with me.

I'll come back if I have trouble!

You can see a list of your avatars here - You must be logged in to see this link.

Two useful websites I found recently;
You must be logged in to see this link. & You must be logged in to see this link.

For your members who want to use their own images as avatars you could start a thread called "Avatars" asking them to
upload their avatar to either one of those two sites and paste the code given to them in a post.

e.g. - You must be logged in to see this link. or
You must be logged in to see this link.
(one ForumCo user is using these websites to host his title image)

All you have to do then is add them in the avatar admin section (above) and reserve it for the member who made the post.

You must be logged in to see this link. won't allow you to "hotlink" to their images. You have to download them and upload them again somewhere.

Otherwise they show up like this -

Thanks for the other sites. I was able to see what I added, but because I wasn't registered with the site I used, I didn't have the proper URL. So, my avatars didn't turn out right.

I'm going to try these other sites (as you suggested) tomorrow. But, I do think I have a feel for "how" to do it now.

And, your idea about a thread on the topic is great. Maybe, we'll get all the queenpower users using them!

Again, thanks for the follow up. I'll return here if I have trouble.

If you have lots of members I would make them upload the avatars themselves (apart from ones who have difficulty with that sort of thing) to one of the website above and post the correct url in the thread.

You can check their url from the post by clicking on it. If its broken ask them supply a correct one or select one of the default avatars.

For the group, we'll probably stick to the regular ones (we are for the most part a little technically challenged). But, I was trying to be cute and have a tiara:).
