Everything seems to be running pretty smooth after the upgrade; however now when people register for the forum, they seem to be placed in a pending status.
When we click on members pending it shows seven members who are pending. There is a link to authenticate but when we click on that link we get the following message:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e57'
Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type nvarchar.
/jimmyosmond/register.asp, line 186
We want our members to be able to start using the forum as soon as they get their password and get logged in. We do not want them in a pending status. How do we get them out of there?
Cathy You must be logged in to see this link.

Fixed.
Members that do not validate their email accounts are placed in the members pending page (possibly because they entered an incorrect email address). It does not mean that people are not registering.
You should delete them rather than approve them. |

We're still having problems with the new registrations.
I've got a member that was part of the first 21 members that I originally reported on. Her user name and e-mail address has completely disappeared from the pending list. She is now not in my member list or e-mail list.
I've got another member that registered today. She is not showing up in the pending list, member list, or e-mail list. I tried to register for her using her e-mail address and password. She showed up on the pending list. I deleted her from that list as you said to do. She's nowhere to be found now.
When I've tried to login as her, it says the e-mail address and username has already been used. I've gone back into my member list and it is not there. Her user name is Luv4MyKids.
When you did the upgrade, did it change our registration settings? How do we make it go back to where they are automatically sent a password and then they can log in and change it to one of their own?

I had to reinstall some stuff on your forum which resulted in all of those members on the pending list being deleted. They would have had to be anyway in order for them to register properly.

You should have let her click the link in the welcome email sent to her email address. When you click activate you are doing that for them and as a result, you never know if they have the correct email address (which may have consequences). Once you delete her from the pending list, she should be totally removed from the system.

I check it out.

Its setup so that when someone registers, they are sent a link to activate their registration. If the do, then they can start using the forum immediately, if they don't you would have to delete them before someone else can register using that email address or username.

Thanks! I know this person and was able to activate her. She's now ready to go. Thanks for all your help and hope that you were having fun during the time you were gone and not out for illness. -- Cathy |
