There used to be a way to mass e-mail all members or to pick and choose members to send e-mails to in the control panel. Is that function still there and I am missing it?

Also we are considering buying a web site/space to go along with our domain name. Is that something you do Padraic? If not do you have a recommendation for us?

Thank you,
Lady RV

I know its possible with the new version, the link must be missing. I'll have a look.

I considered hosting recently but it requires a lot more customer support which would affect support here at ForumCo. For that reason, I won't be offering it anytime soon, but I may in the future.

I know a guy who runs a hosting company, I'm waiting for a reply by email from him and will let you know.

Hi Padraic,

I still don't see where there is or where to find an option for me to do a mass e-mail to members or choose them individually in the control panel. Sorry to be a pain, but could you direct me?

Hi Padraic,

I only see what is below. Regarding e-mail there are two links for e-mail but both of those only produce a list of the members e-mail that I can see and no options for sending. In fact they seem to be exactly the same.

quote:
Other Configuration Options and Features:

Poll Configuration (Upgrade Poll)
Members Pending (13)
Moderator Setup
E-mail List
E-mail List
Private Message Maintenance
Forum Variables Information
Update Forum Counts
Archive Forum Topics
Group Categories Configuration
MOD Setup (Alternative MOD Setup)
Check Installation (Run after each upgrade !)

I just logged out as my Admin name of Lady RV and In as montanaadministrator and see the e-mail all members Now if I am in under montanaadministrator then I see a way. So does that mean other admins, including myself cannot e-mail with Admin status? It will not however let me pick and choose members individually, but as a group only. There are several different options for the group mailings but by certain alphabet groups.

Just wondering still if only the originator of the forum can send e-mails through the Control Panel/Admin Options? If that is the case is there a way to make it so RVWheels and myself can send them as well?

Only the original admin can send out emails. I don't plan to change this.
Some forum owners have a lot more than one admin and run the risk of a "rogue" admin sending out emails to all members (if all admins could send email).

The other admins have access to the email list if they need to send email or they also have the options of getting the forum owner to send the email.

OK, makes sense. I have another Admin as well, beside my dual admin status. I do have a rather yucky question though. What happens if something happens to me? Can my other Admin just take over the account? We hope this club goes on for generation to generation and don't want to see the valuable forum disappear.

If (God forbid) something did happen to you, I could transfer ownership to another admin
or someone who was active on your forum.

Thanks Padraic, from your type to God's ears! Hope it's not for a while. I will let my other Admin and Mods know.
