We understand you're busy and swamped - however we'd like to know the reason for all the recent downtime. This has been going on for quite some time and we are very concerned.
Can you give us the cause of the problems and if all of this is going to settle down soon and we'll go back to getting the great service we've had before?
The main problem has been the change to Windows 2003. The webserver is fundamentally different from the old Windows 2000 webserver in the way it works and is less forgiving when it comes to errors which happen from time to time. I have spent the last 6 weeks or so performance tuning the webserver so that it is reliable and also fast. I tested it for a month before putting it into production. A few w2003 bugs also caused problems which hopefully have been fixed.
Today I have completed a lot of config changes which I hope should help but if you notice any errors, copy them to the support forums or to an email to info@forumco.com. The more information I have, the quicker I will be able to fix it (unless I'm asleep).
I want to upgrade your forum as its one of the largest (if not the largest). It should also help considerably.
One thing I forgot, the problem is mainly with the main webserver, the database server is operating normally and each database is secure so there should be no dataloss even if it seems that the forums are completely messed up.
I'm in the position now that I can serve the entire ForumCo website from one server instead of using multiple ones should a catastrophe or failure occur. What I'm working on now is clustering them so that it will happen automatically.
I've done a lot of re-configuring today. One of the side effects is that its hard to remain logged in to the admin section. This does not affect normal logging in. I am in the process of fixing it.
