Cool, thanks. |

Unfortunately, due to circumstances outside my control ForumCo.com will be closing at the end of this month.
I'm sorry that the news is not better.
I will not be responding to any communication from this point forward.
Thank you everyone for your support over the last 18 years. |

SORRY but i have tried to contact you by internal email but it keeps saying
500 - Internal server error. There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.
I would like to transfer the ownership of my forum as I’m not in a position to run it anymore. The new owner wants to pay the monthly cost and take the forum over can we do that and how please. Thanks.

Padraic, I for one appreciate the way you have handled the forums and fully intend to switch to a paid service. Actually, we had a paid service and Forumco stopped charging us some time years ago. As soon as you find out how to handle the switch, we will do so. One thing, can we still use a credit card? I detest PayPal and use them only when there is no other choice.

Well, our board has been running for more than a decade and we have thousands of members. This is not being received by our membership with anything I could call "Happy". Do you have any suggestion as to another host that could accept the board as is. Trying to have everyone re-subscribe to a new board would be a nightmare, so easy is the watchword here. I'm sorry I didn't get your message earlier, but with only 14 days left to find a solution, I think we are dead. |

Padric, assuming that I am able to find a suitable host for our message board, can you advise if the board can be transferred out of Forumco?
Also, am I correct that the board is using phpBB? |

A really good board host is You must be logged in to see this link. I've been using Jcink for years. Also ForumCo uses Snitz Forums not phpbb. |

I might be a little dense, but if you are shutting everything down in 12 days, why would you not allow us to transfer the board?
I visited Snitz and have to say that it is one of the more confusing places I have been. They don't host, according to their website, so I'm not sure why they would be preferable to phpBB or Wordpress, or some other product.
I guess the only alternative is to go to a hosting site, set up an entirely new message board and then invite all of our members to enroll in the new board. I am disappointed that we couldn't have been given more notice so that we didn't have to scramble and end up with errors and problems that could have been avoided. |

Wes, I'm not promoting any one hosting service. But the one I did advise you about will not only provde you with hosting of a forum, but also allow you to create a website(s), host photos, videos, blogs, message boards, hundred of email accounts, and almost anything your group needs. There is also the fact that there is little danger of them going out of business and all your work (and your members' work) being lost in the future. But, it makes no difference to me, I was only giving you a safe way to go and letting you know what I myself will most likely do. Hope all works out okay for you and your forum members, RUlmer |

RUlmer, thanks for the advice, but I had one dealing with GoDaddy several years ago and it didn't end well. I would give up the internet entirely before I ever allowed them to have one nano-byte of my business. I am exploring several options, but not being able to take the board as it is now configured with our membership is a big negative no matter what. I just don't understand the refusal to allow us to take the board as is... if the board is going to be killed anyway, what difference does it make if I take it A2 Hosting, or Smartlists or wherever. |
