ECUI has just been made aware of a major upcoming network maintenance window by Level 3 Communications, the details of this maintenance is as follows:
Location of Maintenance: Tarrytown, GA
Network Affected: All traffic flowing through Georgia via Level 3 Communications, Inc.'s network
Purpose of Work: Level 3 Communications will be replacing the dual AMP@NE 20211 G5 and see if G5 2A channel 1552.93nmo/p power stabilizes at approximately +4.5dBm.
Date of Planned Work: July 26th, 2003 (Saturday)
Window of Planned Work: 00:01-06:00am EDT (04:01-10:00am GMT)
Impact Expected: Traffic will be down while maintenance is performed. Maintenance should not last through the entire window.
Please, do note that this maintenance will affect every service provider utilizing Lever 3 Communication's (You must be logged in to see this link.) dark fiber. This will be classified as major internet service interruption.

Numerous questions referencing previous information provided to clients pertaining to the Level 3 Communications Network Maintenance notification has caused the necessity for additional clarification. Level 3 Communications is "not" a service provider for ECUi; Level 3 Communications is in fact a transport provider on the Internet Backbone. As a transport provider, Dark Fiber Supplier, the scheduled maintenance Level 3 will be performing at their Tarrytown, Georgia transport interconnect will affect the Internet as a whole and ECUi had determined that knowledge of this impending work would be of value to clients. The planned maintenance Level 3 is performing will in fact prevent future failure of equipment located at the Tarrytown, Georgia transport interconnect; however the maintenance will cause a major section of the Internet backbone to be offline for a period of time (presently estimated to be about 30 minutes, however they have allocated additional time for unexpected problems).
