Hey, I have tried to turn off the "topic moderation" option before something is posted and get the message...
"There Was A Problem With Your Details
Please Approve or Delete all UnModerated/Held posts before turning Moderation off."
...and no moderator has been asked to approve anything anywhere although posts have been sent in but have appeared nowhere, and I ask how this works, thanks,

As an Admin you will see all post. So it would appear to you that all post were made. Regular members will not be able to see the post "in waiting" as you do.
Look close at all post made before you tried to turn off the "Moderate Topic" of the forum. Within the small icons at the top of each post will be one icon allowing you to okay the post. (Tip: slide your mouse cursor slowly over the icons; the option will tell you its function.) On post that need not be approved that icon will not be available.
The reason you can not turn the "Non" moderated format on is; it's telling you that you need to deal with the post already submitted that were posted at the time the "Moderate" option was in force, before you can switch to a "Non or No Moderate" format.
Tip: set yourself up as regular member with a fake membership. That way you can see the forum as a regular member sees it. Sign in as that member (not as Admin) and you will see that some post are not showing up. That would be the ones that a moderator has to deal with before making a change to the other mode.
Please reply back, to let me know if this takes care of your problem.
I'll add this to help others (even if you already know it yourself).
When creating a sub-forum, or editing the properties of a forum, the purpose of the option to "Moderate" the forum is not so as to allow a moderator to be assigned or have powers within that forum. What it does is; it stops any post made from being viewed by all members until the Admin, or the appointed moderator(s) of the forum approves the post.
Nothing is "hid" from an Admin. And the moderator(s) of any forum that is being moderated will see all post that they have the power to moderate. But, regular members are not going to see the post themselves until the Admin, or the moderator that has power within that moderated forum, approves the post.
It's better, in my opinion, to not check the Moderate" option of a forum; but rather the Admin or his moderators check the forum often. If a post that you don't want shows up on the forum, delete the post (or edit it). Of course, if you have a problem member you may have to deal with that person's post in another way. If the member continues to post unwanted comments, lock out that person's membership. Doing it this way allows all your members to post, and allows their post show up as soon as they submit it. |

Thanks for the explanation RUlmer but I already realize and understand all that and all of your hints and suggestions I have already tried, The new posts do not show up as admin or as new member or as guest but are definately there!
My problem is that even logged in as superadmin the new posts are not shown AT ALL unless deemed a mod, not to me the admin, not to the moderator(s), not to anybody from our perspective, So I cannot "deal" with the post(s) "in waiting" because they DO NOT appear to me even logged in as admin (I have covered the entire forum and it seems to have something to do with whoever is advertising every second post) but we know they are there as the system tells us to deal with them before proceeding,
That is where the problem lies, please advise, thanks... |

I have checked as admin, as mod, as member and as guest with the same results everytime, I would also not use the feature myself but the system will not allow me before I "deal with" the pending posts which are not shown to me no matter how I am logged in, again, the source of the problem seems to go back to your advertising sponsor... |

Thanks for letting me know you've got things working okay now. You're right, more often than not it's the little things that can give us headaches. |

True because it is the "little things" that are easily overlooked and many times it is one screw holding an entire place together, Any case, one other question along the same lines, although it is working fine I would like to allow, at least temporarily, guests to submit a post because guests are shown the option of replying and do not realize until they have clicked 'submit' that they must first register and usually are so pissed off then, they dont return,
To be honest I am not yet looking to expand the forum greatly, First I would like to see what people submit on a daily basis so I am prepared later, Is there a way to allow guests to post messages and if so how...thanks,
Btw, I removed this 'Podge' from being an official moderator because to be one you must first introduce yourself to us, if you could pass that on, Also I noticed at least one of you likes our Star Trek tales, Well our egos are need of a shot so,
Oh yes and how can I "move" a topic to another forum section? |

I set Podge up as a moderator so that I could recreate your issue with moderation. Feel free to downgrade Podge to a normal user.
Move a topic by editing it and selecting a different forum from the dropdown list.

I thought you were the Podge, and I am not going to "downgrade" you I just wanted to make sure it was you or one of you, Just dont get a swelled head, get it? lol...
And I found the method of moving topics, just didnt know they were called subjects for that, let us not start calling them threads too otherwise we will really be confused, just kidding, thanks...
PS what does it mean when a guest is in an "invalid location" under the heading 'Current Page'?
Also some guests are sometimes shown to be on 'Current page' "post info 1", Could you please tell me what this is and where because when I click on it, I am shown a blank page, thanks... |
