We are having problems with new members not getting their subscription emails too.
This delivery failure email may be hint:
quote:Could not deliver message to the following recipient(s):
Failed Recipient: xxxxxxx@hotmail.co.uk {full address removed} Reason: Remote host said: 550 SC-001 Unfortunately, messages from 174.123.0.154 weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list
Padriac will this enable all hotmail users to now get e-mail once resolved? Thank you for the fix on the e-mail. Subscriptions seem to be working as well.
Hopefully. I recently moved to a new more powerful server and that meant new ip addresses. Some of those ip's were previously abused so they were on blacklists. It takes time to clean the ip's. Let me know if things haven't improved for hotmail users in the next week.
quote:I have been trying to e-mail numerous members. Since I don't have the real e-mail addresses for some of these folks, I have been using the forum's "e-mail a member" function. A number of my e-mails from the MOC have bounced. We had heard reports that Hotmail was rejecting e-mail from the MOC as SPAM. I van verify that is true. Additionally, sbcglobal.net (the ATT supplier of internet) also rejects e-mails originating from the MOC as SPAM.
Looking up the 521 code (in red above) at att.net gives this reason: The sending system has been identified as a source of spam.
This seems to be a growing problem. One can not depend on MOC originated e-mail being delivered! Members e-mailing members may not realize their messages will never be delivered (and they get no notification).
Worse, new registrations for the MOC may not get their verification e-mail. Perhaps the Admins need to manually approve each and every application and then e-mail (using a non-MOC account) the applicant letting them know.
This has become a significant problem and should be escalated to ForumCo to determine if they can resolve this problem.
Thank you Padraic. It seems that our new registered members are not getting the activation e-mail. I don't know if you have a way to see if that's accurate or not?
Individual ISP's may still block certain email. I will continue to whitelist our mail server in as many places as possible but individual board admins should also follow up with ISP's.
