Slow Response
To ForumCo Admin;
A problem involving page loading (slow response) started happening a few months back. At that time it occurred at certain times of the morning, around 0700. I thought that the server may have some kind of maintenance scheduled at that time and the computer on the other end was busy. However, the problem is no longer happening at any certain time period, it now is almost at any time when entering the (my) forum.
It is not just that the page loading is slow, this involves my computer waiting for a reply from the server's computer(s). "Website found, waiting for a reply."
Please, check my forum and see if it is happening due to my forum, or if it is a sever problem that is beyond my control.
Thank you
P.S. Please note, the above problem does not appear to happen to me when entering this support forum.

There is scheduled maintenance every 2 weekdays (backups - can't remember the exact time) and another weekly backup & optimisation on Sundays. I have been doing some work over the last few weeks in order to improve performance and reduce costs (recession proofing) that requires me to run jobs that take an hour or two to complete and result in some slowness during that period.
Part of the problem is that the databases now total 88GB in size and are growing daily.
Right now I am rebuilding the indexes on the database tables. It should take about 4 days (or less). The database indexes enable faster location of data whenever a search is performed, topics is viewed, etc. and there is one particular index that I think might be causing the problem.
As a last resort I will have to prune old unused forums or automatically archive everything over a year old. I'll keep you all updated. Keep posting if the problem persists with as much info as possible e.g. screenshots, traceroutes, time the problem occurred, etc.
The support forum runs off a different database & website. |
