I want to post a flash video (file extention .flv). How do I do this? Simply putting the link between the tags is not working.

Where are the videos you are trying to insert being hosted at? Not all host are currently providing the correct code needed.

None I've tried have worked (with the .flv extention).

I just looked for one to use as an example for you. I tried a test and tried to get the video in the following story to work, but nothing.

That particular one is not even working correctly (all the time) at the web page it is on. I don't think you will have much reliable success using it.
Try some other video hosting sites.

Bottom line, I don't think it is a problem with what you may be doing, or a problem with ForumCo's tools provided. I think it is a problem with some of the codes provided by some host. Photo Bucket is real bad about giving "wrong codes". Try some from You Tube, or Yahoo's hosting sites.

So I need to use the full "embed code" or just the link?

I still can't get a .flv to work at all.

Of course YouTube and Google work, but not flash.

Here's how I was trying to do it:

This time it is not the code that is the problem; it is the place the video is coming from (CNN).

The embedded code given at the webpage that has this video on is only providing the "HTML" code for use of the video. HTML code cannot be used on Forum Co's forums. It may be that the video your trying to use is also embedded in (I think) as an "XML" type webpage, therefore you may not be able to use it in any other way except in creating a Iframe in a webpage (and if you do, you will probably get the entire thing, including CNN's commercial proceeding the Ron Paul video).

Other places (sites) I found that had this same video did not appear to be able to make it play either.

The news broadcast sites you been trying to use videos from, like the BBC, and now CNN, may just not be able to be inserted into a forum and load properly.

Sorry, and I could be wrong.

Nah ... I find some fo the news site link impossible to link to as well. I think it is something they do to stop people 'filching' their videos
