Hi, I have recently made my forum here. I want to know is there a way to authenticate the users before they could start posting/seeing the active posts in the forum ? Like I want to keep the registration option open to all but i want when member tries to register, then the administrator has to approve/authenticate his entry before he/she could start posting and seeing the forum. Our previous forum has been hacked and deleted few times in other sites, so for added security I wanted this option.
If this is not possible then is it a possiblity taht we can add a separate thread/topic which will only be visible to the newcomers where they can post after registration and ask for access to rest of the forum?
Hope you understand my question
Regards melodyforum.forumco.com

There is no “auto” option that is going to enable you to do this. It is something you as Admin will have to do as you oversee and run your forum. But, both things you ask about , or want, are possible.
First; As in a similar question you posted, read this topic about new members registering, and having to be approved before they are confirmed as a member. This will give you control over any new members in the registering process, see topic:
You must be logged in to see this link.
The answer to your second question is a little different;
First you would need to create another forum. (Forums can be created within categories, just like topics can be created within forums, etc.) After you create a second forum, use one of your forums as (for lack of a better word) a “sub-entry forum”. Restrict all new members to only being allowed to read and post (access) that forum alone. Restrict them from the other “Main” forum. If you want to restrict or allow members to seeing or accessing a forum, use the “Edit” (pencil icon) to set the access options. First you must set the type or level of access in the forum that you will allow; then; just below that option; use the “Available” – “Allowed” members list to give the member access (or not) to that forum. In other words, after the member has posted etc. in the first forum and you feel comfortable with allowing that newer member to read and post to the second forum, you can then move that member’s username to the “Allowed” side of the option (setting) of the second forum.
Don’t forget to submit the changes as you set this up.
