Can a forum admin see the pms members of their site are sending? I ask this because I was informed by a member they some members are spamming in pm's on the site to have members go to another site.
I'm trying to get them to give up the names. But if not I have an idea of who to look through because they all came from the same site.

You could ask them to please forward you the PMs. You may be able to view other's PMs but then you're getting into a privacy issue. I know on our forum I would not want to go there, the nature of the PM is Private Message. For us it would be opening a whole can of worms.

Okay, Thank You.
Image Question. I have members who have images on a flickr site but when they use their http:// link with the site(My Site)forum code the images don't load. I've had no problems with other image sites. I'm curious as to what could be happening. |

Wendy, You might want to look close at the URL the members are using. Sometimes, members attempt to use the page’s URL that the image is on. They should only be using the image’s URL. You’d be surprised to know, just how many people don’t know the difference. Check the URL for correctness, and make sure they have no spaces involved when they placed the address and the image brackets within their post. If the image URL is correct, then it should work.

I tried grabing the link out myself from the images and used the forum code and popped up an X in the box. Another member had the same site with the problem.
I'm sure it's something I'm overlooking and will feel silly about it after it comes to light but I just haven't figured it out yet. Usually I just go in and grab it up myself for them after they've tried like 5 times to do it theirselves and still pm me about it. |

Is there any way to get more smilies for the forums? |

Wendy, I don’t know what any of the URLs you or your members are trying to use, but try this: Right click the image (Simlie you are wanting to use) then read the properties “Address URL”. Then use exactly that URL between the image brackets within your post. (Note: you can actually highlight the URL from the properties info, and copy it, then paste it on your post in the forum.) Here’s a tip: if you have website space, do as I have in the past; find a few great smilies you like on some of the free websites, copy them and paste them to a webpage on your site (create one). Then make the URLs available to your members for their use on your forum.
For example:

Here is another tip: If you are creating a webpage with smilies for your forum members to use, go the extra mile and create another one with avatar images they can also use.
Whether it is smilies or avatars, or any other images you collect and use, make sure they are free for your use. Don’t use copyrighted images, unless you have permission to do so.
Once you have the images available for your members, post the URL to the webpage containing them on your forum. Suggest to your members that they add the page to their "Favorites" for quick reference back to. |
