is it at all possible to change the "New Posts Contains new posts since last visit" coloured icon to a contains unread posts? so unless that specific topic has been opened it remains cloured.

its only a minor thing but i find it annoying that if there is more than one unread post in differnet topics that once i reply to one the others are no longer the different colour and the one i have just posted is. another thing is that my forum is very very general and covers a large variety of topics so if post that are unread would remain coloured despite multiple visits would make more sense as members may not always want to view all topics but may at a later date. i know the date is displayed everywhere but the coloured icon would just make the entire thing so much easier.

also like to add that sometimes i find that all the topics are given a coloured icon for no apparent reason. this may just be a browser issue but if u could confirm that i would be thankful.

Sorry, I thought I had responded to this earlier.

The way it works at the moment is by date i.e. the forum records when you last visited and shows all new posts since that date. Its not the same as email where you can mark a message as being unread. To record who looked at which topic (which is what you would need to do) would be monumental in terms of database usage and therefore not likely to be implemented.

thats ok. ok i didnt realise it would be such a momentous task having seen it on other forums. in that case it it possible to even do something similar but over a very short period of time like it doesnt update the unread posts until an hour after you sign in again or something just so that they stay marked for a bit while u browse the forum?
