How come you can like videos, urls, images, emails, etc. but you can't link files?

You can post links to .mp3's and other media files e.g.

If you're referring to the Terms of Service, its linking to or distributing copyrighted material which we do not allow. Your members would be allowed to link to their own copyrighted material or material which is freely available in the public domain.

I didn't so much mean linking files, I more or less meant attaching files from your computer...

That is one thing we won't allow. Its too much of a security risk.
There are plenty of places which will host files of any type which you can link to (within the terms of service of course).
