an interesting problem about half the members that i have spoken to tonight are unable to load the forum at all.

normally i would think its a problem with thier computer as some users are not having trouble at all but it seems strange that such a large number of ppl would have exactly the same problem at the same time. all they get is a white scrren with some sort of black box on the top somewhere.

personally i am having no troubles with it and there are still active users at the moment so i dont really kow what to do. any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. the link to my forum is in my sig.

Can you find out more information.

Can you ask them to do screenshots ? Provide a traceroute or any other information e.g. browser / operating system ?

i have one screenshot:

i inquired about browers and there seems to be no link. i dont ask about os but i think most of them are running xp. the small vertical black line in the top left corner i also have in the same place when i load the page too but it seems to just push the eniter page down this much. i have never noticed it before now. several members with problems mentioned this but when i asked another about it they said no its just blank. i have no idea what a trace route is so i cant really ask them to do it. we also tried clearing out the cookies and what not too with no success. i am yet to find a pattern in those who can and cannot load it.

The browser is Firefox. Are they using any extensions which could be causing the problem ?

Can they view the source of the page ? If they can view the source can you post it here ?

ill ask them next time theyre online. i have also had reported troubles of people using ie as well so im not sure if the extensions are the problem. i have also just noticed this small black line at the top of this forum's pages too.

i just tried to post the source code of the page as i see it for what its worth but i got the following error:

error '80004005'

/post_info.asp, line 81

That narrows it down. Is that the complete error ? i.e. was there any other text ?

I think I might know the cause. It will take a little while to fix it. Let me know if you find out anything else.

just to clarify
"error '80004005'
/post_info.asp, line 81"
is the error i got on this forum when i pasted the source code into the msg box and tried to post it, not the error they get on my forum. ill check with them and see if its fixed tho and get back to you.

If you go to your FOnt / Colour Config page and click on a colour (the hex value) you wil see the new feature which caused it.

Can you do me a favour? Ask one of the people who got a blank page to check if it occurs on our main page - You must be logged in to see this link.

I just added the ColourMod feature to the main page (as an example) and want to be sure that there are no problems with it.
