This is relating to the 'giants2006' forum.

I have turned on every level of subscription feature at the board level, and for each category and topic. I can subscribe by email to the board just fine. However, I have "subscribed" to both of the RSS feeds for my board in bloglines (You must be logged in to see this link. - a popular RSS reader) and have never received a single update when new messages are posted.

Is there something I'm missing about how to use RSS?

Yes. The only forum on your board is private (you must be logged in to view it).

So, to be clear, if I make the forum "All Visitors" the RSS feed will work? Can I use any other settings to allow RSS (eg. password protected) or is that the only one?

Correct.

If the forum is protected in any way, postings will not appear in the rss feed. The rss feed can only contain threads or posts which are publicly available. There is a third option which I'll look at in a minute.....

Good news. The third option (in your admin area) works for private forums - You must be logged in to see this link.
(select Netscape RSS)

Be careful with it though (if you have content which you would like to keep private).
