when i try to set the cookie to the website it wont change...it just keeps it on the forum...why?

Because its supposed to be set to forum. Read the ? beside the setting.

This is a very simple explanation of how cookies work here.

If you tried to set the cookie to website (forumco.com - not your website) then your users would not be able to login to smokey651.forumco.com (a subdomain is a different website for cookie purposes).
