I have a question about the search feature. Is it supposed to bring up all the messages which contain the key words? or just the topics? I'm only getting the topics and on this discussion board each topic contains many replies, so the search feature is not very useful.

Whats the difference between a message and a topic?

The way I've set up our discussion board, I begin a discussion topic (what your documentation calls a "topic") and others reply to that topic rather than starting a new one. The topics and replies are what I'm calling "messages." You can see how it works here:

I've found that the search feature does not bring up the replies, only the original topics.

Search for the word "helpful" without quotes on your forum.

It will pull up two topics, "helpful" only appears the replies and not in the main topics.

Yes, that's true. But when the topic comes up you have to go digging to find the reply. I made the topics too broad and there are too many replies. I think I'm going to reorganize the board like this one, so there is a general category, but people post their own topics. That way if you search for an author, all of their topics will come up.
