Hello, my forum is loading extremely slowly, especially the last couple of weeks. I have had a great experience using ForumCo before all of the loading issues. I am having lots of members complaining to me about it. My forum address is m1carbineforum.forumco.com - If something isn't done about it fairly soon, I will have no option but to dump ForumCo and run vBulletin or phpBB.

I presume it was the main page. Was it just a once off or is the whole forum slow ? Were you logged in as an admin or normal user?

It comes up quite quickly for me even though it is quite a large board.

It took 3.17 seconds at 6:40 PM EST, right now, Padraic. I wanted to check several different times over a few days before I responded. It's defiantly better. Three seconds is common, but most of the time it's faster than that. I haven't been keeping a log, but it seems like it's under a second, most of the time.

I might keep a log for a week and try to figure out the slowest times and what the average loading time comes out to be.

Thank you Padraic, most MOC-ers should be well asleep by that time. So, I think we'll be fine with that schedule.

You're the best of the best!

Our forum and this one is lightening fast today. Thank you very much Padraic, it's super. Even with my Verizon Aircard it is loading like it used to at home with a cable modem.

I've certainly seen a vast improvement since the fix yesterday. Anyone still seeing problems?
Admin Posted - 10/05/2008 : 18:10:06
Thanks for that Dave. I watched the main server at 5-8 minutes past the hour and found a process which was taking up 100% cpu. It was a spam filter which runs every so often. The guilty filter is now history.

Let me know if it persists.

Thank you Padraic, I am very happy you two technically savvy guys can discuss this because I'm pretty much in the dark. I am using a Verizon Air Card as well. The trials of being on the road.
Admin Posted - 10/02/2008 : 07:17:55
I presume a Verizon Air card is a modem which works off GSM cell phones ?

At the bottom left of the page where is says "This page was generated in x.x seconds." does it say

This page was generated in 7.3 seconds or

This page was generated in 0.3 seconds ?

If it says 7.3 seconds its our fault. If it says 0.3 seconds but takes 7.3 seconds to get to you its someone elses fault. If it persists, keep posting info. Its the only way I can get to the bottom of it. I haven't had the problem here or at any other forum (including Montana) since I fixed the firewall issue.

Yes, since it has been brought to my attention the form loading is slow. The hung loading ICON is gone but it took about 7 seconds for this page to load up. Thanks for you help again.
