I am getting this time out error while trying to post. I actually got it twice.

quote:

/post_info.asp, line 1211

Is it me, my machine or is the forum having a problem.

Thanks in advance,
Lady RV

It could have been while I was running Update Forum Counts. If it persists let me know. I posted on your forum no problem a minute ago.

Hi there ForumCo,

Well, it happened again twice today while I was trying to move a topic. Here's the message:

quote:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e31'

Timeout expired

/post_info.asp, line 617

I shut the forum down yesterday, archived and did the update the forum count thing. We had a couple of topics showing no posts when there were several. I don't know if one has anything to do with the other.

Thank you very much,
Lady RV

Its probably because I'm archiving another big forum at the moment. If it persists, let me know.

This is probably a dumb question but does it always take longer to load archived threads when opening them?

Speaking of Archiving. I am noticing double and triple post after I archive in threads.

Check out

and

Oh my goodness the General Discussion section shows no topics at all in the archives. HELP...what's happening? Oh no have we lost he majority of our forum? Yikes...sorry panicking here.

OK, many many topics are gone all over...please help!

What is the first link ?

The second one does look like a problem with archiving. I imagine that the topic & replies got copied to the archives table twice for some reason.

The General forum was archived last on date: 11/6/2006 7:29:19 PM. Are you sure that you didn't hit "Delete topics from a forum" instead of archiving them ?

Archives shouldn't take any longer than a normal forum but it depends on the amount of topics / replies.

Hi again,

Here is the correct link on the first one.

You must be logged in to see this link.

I am positive I did not hit delete. Yesterday I shut the forum down, then I archived all the forums of topics older than 3 months. After I accomplished that I did the update forum counts.

I have seen the duplicate post before in archives many times, but didn't realize it was a result of archiving and never had checked out all the topics.

Archives always seem to take longer and searching in archives of course is even longer if not impossible.

Can you help retrieve all that valuable information? I swear I did not delete it. I did them all at once as I said...not individually. The archive thing has not shown an accurate date in a long time as I archived about three months ago or so. I think I even posted about it before on here. I did that one a few at a time I believe.

My heart is racing, I do hope you can repair this.

Thank you and sorry for the trouble,
Lady RV

Good news. They are in the backup just not showing on the forum page.

Here is an example - You must be logged in to see this link.

Its also in your main forum but without the replies - You must be logged in to see this link.

I will have to think about what to do in order to fix it without losing any posts.

It is an extremely bad idea to archive the whole board together when you have 89 forums on your board. You should be doing them individually. It is also a very bad idea to have 89 forums on your board.......

Oh shoot around 5 pm EST, maybe 6 pm?

I will never, ever archive the whole forum at once again. I thought I was doing the best thing. I am so very sorry.

I have been working on combining forums. I had no idea we had 89.

Thank you so much Padraic,

Lady RV

The saga continues with the time out errors.

This is what I have gotten twice when I tried to post on the same thread.

quote:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e31'

Timeout expired

/post_info.asp, line 1211

I'm so sorry I messed things up.

Lady RV

ON EDIT: When I was finally able to post it showed up three times, so even though I was getting the time out error the post was posting. If that makes sense?
